Blade Runner is set in 2019
dystopian Los Angeles. Rick Deckard is a “Blade Runner” someone who is to hunt
down and kill ‘Replicants.’ Deckard is assigned to hunt down 4 Nexus-6
replicants. He goes to Tyrell Corp to get more info where he then meet Rachael
a replicant. Who he finds out doesn't know she’s a replicant. Rachael ends up
going to Deckard’s apartment to prove her humanity where Rick ends up
disproving it. All the while Pris and Roy who are replicants stay with
Sebastian one of the creators of the Nexus series. Roy this brute of a
replicant convinces Sebastian to take him to Tyrell crop to talk to Tyrell,
where he ends up killing him. While roy is out killing people Rick finds the
flat kills Pris and then an epic battle ensures when Roy gets back. Near the
end Roy has the chance to kill Rick but doesn't he just ends up leaving. The
ending is of Rick and Rachael leaving his apartment in a hurry. Making you
think that maybe Deckard isn’t really a human, that maybe he himself is a
replicant.
This movie has a lot to do with
memory implants. For example Rachael’s memories of Tyrell’s younger nieces
memories. The imagery was very gloomy and what I would imagine a dystopia would
look like with out all the government control. Also the movie has lots of ad
placement. They were generally Asian ads but they were present. It gives way to
talking about consumerism and how it shows that it still running our lives. You
have large cooperation’s such as Tyrell’s and how they own everything.
